**SHOW INFORMATION PRESS RELEASE AS
FOLLOWS **
The
Beeches have a number of halls
within the Hotel and a Main
exhibition hall called the Pavilion.
Adjacent to the Pavilion is the
Annex and this will be utilised as
well. There is plenty of FREE
parking in the 22 acre grounds of
the complex and even more parking at
the nearby trading estates.
The list
of companies and organisations at
the show ( which currently number
around 30 ) reads a bit like a who's
who of flight simulation.
Obviously Tony Vee and his helpers
will man the FSUG stand. They will
be pleased to welcome new members,
renew subscriptions, welcome lapsed
members back into the fold and pass
the time of day with existing ones.
Terry McGee and co are crossing the
Irish Sea to represent the PC Pilots
of Ireland. It may be that you fancy
having a go at flying on-line but
find the prospect a bit too
daunting. When you meet the folks
from VATSIM you will find them both
friendly and helpful. VATSIM will
host two presentations at the show
and explain how you can become a
virtual air traffic controller and
how you can take your place in this
virtual world as a pilot. It has
never been easier to fly on line now
that we have Squawkbox 3. It could
be that you would like to fly for a
virtual airline but don't know where
to start. You could do worse than
talk to the friendly guys (and gals)
of Knight Air . A Virtual Airline
provides flying with a purpose and
the best of these add a great deal
of fun to this wonderful hobby.
Several other V.A.s will also be
keen to promote the benefits
interested visitors. For the
military minded there will be a
squadron of four networked F4
Falcons flying within the electronic
battlefield environment of Falcon 4
Allied Force. Maybe you have heard
of or used the facilities of the
AVSIM website. AVSIM doesn't even
require a subscription, it is run
and financed by hardworking
enthusiasts. Meet their UK
representative and see what they
have to offer. We will have a
broadband connection in the Hotel
itself and both VATSIM and AVSIM
will have live online demonstrations
running throughout the day.
The
commercial organisations attending
the show will all add interest and
flavour. Aerosoft are winging their
way from Germany with their latest
soon to be released products. Bill
Trezise from Sim Control ( Copy Cat)
will be demonstrating his replica
Spitfire controls and his latest
Helicopter Controls with software
from Dodosoft which enable the sim
pilot to do a full start-up from
cold with a simulated Jet Ranger.
Get this wrong in reality and the
bill can range from £10000 to as
much as £50000. It seems to me that
this is a very good reason to be
trained properly in the correct
procedure. Bills controls are in use
by the RAF and Police Helicopter
Support Units.
There
will be a number of "cockpits" at
the show, two are being brought by
Mike Potten of Virtually Everything
Simulations. Mike will also have a
range of die cast models suitable
for collectors. Do you need air band
radios, flying clothing or charts ?.
If so chat to Ken Cothliffe from Air
Supply from Yeadon. Ken will have a
wide range of merchandise to suit
the taste of all real and virtual
aircraft enthusiasts. Horizon
Simulation have brought out some
stunning software of late and they
will be ably represented by Paul
Chaney. Horizon are the publishers
not only of VFR Photographic Scenery
but also X-Plane 8.0 and Falcon 4
Allied Force. We are privileged to
see the UK debut of Vox ATC UK which
will feature recorded 16 bit English
voices. For the first time ever you
can use the Lower Airspace Radar
Service in FS2004 and request a
Flight or Radar Information Service.
With virtual reality like this, the
sky is the limit. Maybe you would
like to see the world of the FTD or
Flight Training Device. Representing
Elite Simulations is Derek Clarke of
Flight Simulation Ltd. He will also
show panels and Avionics from the
German company ITRA.
Frazer Tweedy will be demonstrating
his aircraft designing expertise
with X-Plane. Frazer has designed a
Twin Squirrel helicopter for X-Plane
that is being used for training by
the London Metropolitan Police
helicopter support unit.
We hope
that a real Jet Ranger helicopter
will fly in on the day but this will
depend on the weather.
Alpine
Systems, of Cheltenham represented
by Paul Fryer will show the most
modern powerful and able PC's that
money can buy. Paul hopes to show a
multi screen version of flight
simulator with as many as 5
monitors. He will also display wide
screen state of the art TFT and
Plasma screens for flight sim and
other uses.
Maybe
you haven't seen aerobatics with the
RealAir SF-260 military training
aircraft with Track IR 3 Pro and
Vector Expansion, If you haven't,
you will be amazed. Maybe you would
like to see what difference an Ivibe
Cushion adds to the reality of your
super simulator ? Try it out, you
will wonder no more. So would you
would like a new joystick, yoke,
pedals, Go-Flight Avionics or even
"real instruments", you will see
them all at the show. Saitek will be
demonstrating their awfully clever
Gaming Mouse and Illuminated Gamer
keyboards as well as their award
winning X-52 HOTAS controls. As
always, Bob and Carol Sidwick
assisted by Mary and Joan will run a
well stocked R. C. Simulation shop.
There is
full itinerary of presentations and
so much to see, make an early start
and be there."
